A counter sells. It does not advise.
Open the prostate section of the D.Watson website and you get 42 products, filterable by active ingredient and by manufacturer. Tamsulosin alone has nineteen entries. It is a well-built catalogue and genuinely useful if you already know what you came for.
There is not one sentence of explanation on it. Not what an alpha blocker does, not how long it takes, not why one saw palmetto is 160 mg and the next is 450, and not a word about the fact that taking tamsulosin with a tadalafil tablet can put your blood pressure on the floor — although both are sold from the same pages.
That is not a criticism of the shop. A shop sells what you ask for. But a man of fifty-five standing at a counter with a symptom he has not described to anyone in two years is not in a position to ask for the right thing, and the person opposite him has six people in the queue.

The counterfeit problem is a shelf problem
Dawn has reported that around 85 per cent of medicines sold in Pakistan are substandard or counterfeit, and DRAP has found more than half of tested samples of certain life-saving medicines to be fake. Every one of those reached a patient through a distribution chain and a counter. We are not suggesting D.Watson is careless — we are saying that once our jar enters that chain, our word about it is worth nothing, and at Rs 10,900 our word is most of what you are buying.

Can I get NixMen at D.Watson Blue Area?
No. We do not supply D.Watson or any other medical store. Everything we sell leaves our own office in Karachi.
Why not just sell in shops?
A distributor margin plus a retail margin would take the jar to about Rs 14,500, and it would end our ability to trace a batch once it left us. We would also lose the call, which is the part of this that we think actually helps people.
What if I prefer to buy in person?
Then this product is not for you, and we would rather say that than sell you something through a channel we cannot stand behind. Prozon at Rs 850 and Herbiotics saw palmetto at Rs 1,650 are on the shelves and are decent products.
How fast can you reach Islamabad?
